Arguments Against Diminished Value VERSUS The Truth

Back in May, I saw a sad story about a filmmaker in South Africa that was killed by the head butt of a giraffe out in the bush while filming for a movie.

In my mind, I related that to how the giant insurance companies just throw around invalid denials to diminished value claims to shut down the claimant from figuring out how in the heck to fight, therefore making them give up.

Until they find us.

A while ago, I was provided with a pretty big list of arguments that attempted to show why diminished market value on automobiles is not real, or at least why it is never very much.

I am going to address each one, point by point so as to be very thorough.

Mind you, these arguments were made by a professional who evaluates the market of stigma losses on automobiles.

Aston Martin Diminished Value – BIG WIN!

Shane is an attorney so he was well aware that diminished value was owed to him after he was hit in his 2007 Aston Martin Vantage.

He definitely had an advantage when it came to negotiating his claim but he did rely on our knowledge and highly technical report to prove that his loss was substantial despite the fact that his luxury car was repaired perfectly by the best in Dallas.  

He knew that his Aston Martin diminished value claim was going to run pretty high but he had to prove it!

Diminished Value – Fact or Faked? 7 Things to Look for in a Diminished Value Report

diminished value factsIs automobile diminished value a fact? If so, then how does one prove the exact diminished value? Is there anything fake about diminished value?


In almost every successful recovery, an expert report on diminished value is required. As an expert in diminished value, my research indicates that diminished value exists in almost every case where a vehicle has been wrecked and then repaired. Generally speaking, the lesser the value of the car is before the wreck, the lesser the diminished value is after repairs, but not always. There are many factors that should be evaluated in order to properly determine the amount of diminished value suffered by a vehicle.
